How does the service work?
Select the service at your local pharmacy, at a time and date that suits you.
Your consultation can last up to 30 minutes. Your pharmacist will have a private chat with you to make sure the service is right for you.
You'll be asked to confirm your blood pressure, weight, and height. If you're not sure, your pharmacist can measure them.
If you are eligible for the service, the pharmacist can supply you with up to 3 months of oral contraception if it is new to you, or up to 12 months if it is a repeat supply*.
*In some cases the pharmacist may reduce this period and will explain the reason for this decision.
We know that finding the right contraception can be a sensitive and important matter, which is why your pharmacy offers free, easier access to a greater choice to contraception services, providing ongoing monitoring and repeat prescriptions.
The PCS is a fantastic solution for women who want a more convenient, stress-free way to access and manage their contraception. It's just one of the many ways the NHS is here to support your health and well-being.
